Flipboard is something that I think came with my Samsung Galaxy Note 8S tablet, but I had no idea what it was and wasn’t interested in poking at it. When I saw it in the 23 Mobile Things list, I figured I could try it, but downloaded it onto my Moto X phone instead, since I have that with me more often.
I keep being confused about the navigation. It doesn’t seem intuitive, and at first I did ’t know what I was creating/accessing/manipulating as I flipped around and choose things (it makes a little more sense now). It flips instead of scrolls, which can be a little jarring, except when I get to some actual articles (from websites that I'm then unable to continue exploring, though I did get one to open up in the browser) that do scroll. When I rotate to landscape viewing, the content doesn’t adjust to flip side to side instead of up and down, which I found kind of strange. The whole thing probably works better on a bigger screen, too.
I selected a few broad topics to follow and poked around. I’ve added Mental Floss as a thing that will show up somewhere. I totally found a great article about comics! (I can't find my favorites and I don't remember the title/site, but it featured Pearson's Hildafolk and some other comics.) I don’t have much experience with RSS feeds, and Flipboard seems to be that kind of a thing. I don’t know if I will continue to use this, as it’s one more thing to follow/keep track of, but I could see how it might be useful for librarians in curating feeds for research projects or trending ideas.
